Murfreesboro responds to Structure Fire-  On September 6th at 16:50, the Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Dept.was called to a structure fire at 805 South Washington, according to Fire Chief Alan Walls. Light smoke was showing on the East and South sides upon arrival of the first engine company. An interior attack team equipped with a thermal imaging camera discovered source of fire in utility closet. Damage was limited to this one room.  Cause of fire was likely an electrical short. Last engine cleared scene at 18:07. No injuries were reported and smoke detectors were not present.

Murfreesboro Now a Firewise Community- The city of Murfreesboro received the honor last Thursday in a lunch provided by the Arkansas Forestry. We appreciate those that worked tirelessly on this very important project.

Thanks to a very generous supporter of our community, we now have a thermal imaging camera in our arsenal. It  can find hot spots in walls and ceilings of homes, and most important, it can help us find a victim in various environments from house fires, automobile accidents, and search and rescue situations.

NEW FIRST RESPONDERS!

Firefighters Ricky Branch and Ryan Gilmer have just completed passing the first responder course, which is a 40 hour class.  Eight out of sixteen on the department are now first responders, including three EMT's.

TRAINING OFFICERS

FF/EMT Robbie Crocker, and FF/Sec. Jay O'neal, have just passed the Instructor 1 Module 1 class, through Arkansas Fire Academy.

NEW SCBA AIRPACKS

Truck 1 received 4  complete MSA Firehawk airpacks with spare bottles, thanks once again to a private donation from our most generous and humble citizen. This equipment replaced the original scbas that were purchased in 1993 with the truck was put into service. This equipment was very expensive, and would have taken several years to purchase because of the very limited funds we receive from the state of Arkansas.

Fireboat news-  Our new fireboat was officially put into service on July 4, 2008. We are still working getting it fully equipped, but are ready to respond to emergencies on Lake Greeson.
