Pike County joins CodeRED emergency notification system

Pike County has instituted the CodeRED Emergency Notification System- an ultra high-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications.  This system will telephone all or targeted areas of the County in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action (such as a weather alerts, missing child, evacuation notices, boil notices).  The system is capable of dialing 50,000 phone numbers per hour.  It then delivers a recorded message to a live person or an answering machine, making three attempts to connect to any number.

It is very important for citizens and businesses to participate in the program actively in order to maximize the benefits of the system and public safety.  This system is only as good as the database of phone numbers supporting it.  To ensure the most accurate information is available, the Pike County Office of Emergency Management  encourages all citizens and business owners to register their information with CodeRED.  Information needed for the system includes name, address and phone numbers (cell phone numbers can be registered also).  This information is kept strictly confidential with CodeRED.  Also, if you happen to move or change phone numbers you should update your information.  To register, click on the logo above which will take you to the CodeRED registration form.
